About the Project
SaxaTool is an independent engineering project born out of pure professional frustration. It was developed by Pomorie Sax, an embedded hardware engineer and active saxophone enthusiast based on the Black Sea coast of Bulgaria.
The Perspective: Engineer Meets Musician
"I am not a world-class concert saxophonist. I look at the instrument primarily through the lens of physics, fluid dynamics, and signal processing. When evaluating overhauls on my own bench, I realized that traditional needle-style tuners fail at the exact moment a technician needs them most — during complex, dynamic register changes where overtones dominate."
With a background in real-time embedded systems, the solution was clear: stop relying on generic mobile app algorithms and generic sound cards. SaxaTool offloads the heavy mathematical pitch-tracking directly to a dedicated 32-bit micro-controller, creating a clean, high-density telemetry data stream optimized specifically for woodwinds.
Current Production Phase
Every single SaxaTool analyzer device is hand-assembled, wired, calibrated, and stress-tested on an actual repair bench in Bulgaria. This is an early production run tailored strictly for professional repair technicians and demanding luthiers who value uncompromised data accuracy over a shiny factory-molded commercial exterior.
